Tulsa, Oklahoma

The second largest city in Oklahoma, Tulsa is set on historic Route 66, making it a popular spot for weary travelers to rest their heads. Practically smack dab in the middle of the country, Tulsa shares both Midwestern and Southern sensibilities, which is especially evident in the city's food scene. Scattered throughout town, diners serve up home-style favorites like chicken-fried steak, biscuits and sausage gravy, fried okra, and sweet tea. Barbeque is another popular meal. Barbequed bologna, a regional specialty, is commonly offered on menus. For a true artery-clogging treat, head to Elmer's to order a Badwich. The venerated sandwich is piled high with ribs, chopped beef, smoked bologna, and a choice of hot links or smoked sausage.

About me:
I love cooking just a little bit less than I love eating. I really enjoy using all my cooking experience to make up my own recipes. Most of the time they turn out awesome and I walk around with my head so big I have to grease it to get through doorways. But ever so often - I gotta say - I really drop the ball and wind up with a culinary disaster comparable to Chernoble. It's ok, . . .having take out once in a while builds character.

The Best Meatloaf

Reviewed on Jan. 5, 2009 by ILove2Ck
Wonderful meatloaf! I used Heinz 57 sauce, 2 T dried minced onion, and frozen chopped green pepper. I wasn't paying attention and used all the sauce in the meatloaf, so I added extra on top the last 10 min of baking. My husband even liked this, green peppers and all, and is soooo glad I didn't use A1 sauce to make this. (which I almost did since it is my favorite) I will use this recipe a lot we enjoyed it so much. The next time I am going to add 1 T of brown sugar too. Thanks for the wonderful recipe.

Very sweet, very nice flavor. I used regular crisco with a drop of butter flavor extract whipped in. I got 4.5 dozen cookies from this recipe. Very good, thanks!

Deep-Fried Turkey Marinade

Reviewed on Jan. 5, 2009 by Cabbage
All I can say is...FABULOUS!!!! The skin did come out black (and I tried to keep the burner to 350 degrees), but no complaints from anyone at all!! It was a medium turkey but was gone in a few days. Thanks! Hubby and I will ALWAYS keep to this recipe.
